David Lindsay Brooks, age 78, passed away peacefully at home in Ladson, South Carolina, on May 21, 2025, at 12:00 a.m.
David was born on February 28, 1947, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to John Lindsay Brooks and Camille Brooks. He grew up in the towns of Port Gibson and Lorman, Mississippi, and went on to attend Mississippi College, where he played tennis. He later earned his seminary degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, answering a lifelong calling to ministry.
David served faithfully as a pastor for most of his life, offering wisdom, comfort, and a steady presence to his congregation and community. He was known for his deep faith, warm sense of humor, and gift for storytelling.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Brooks; his sons, John Brooks and Matthew Brooks; and his grandchildren, Wyatt Brooks and Logan Brooks, all of Charleston, South Carolina.
Beyond the pulpit, David was passionate about many things. He volunteered as a tennis coach throughout his life, inspiring young players with both skill and sportsmanship. He loved golf, playing trombone, reading voraciously, discussing his favorite films, and playing with his grandchildren.
David's legacy is one of service, faith, and love. He will be remembered not only for the messages he preached but for the life he lived-rooted in kindness, devotion, and joy.
A visitation and memorial service will be held on Friday, June 6 from 2-4pm at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial services located at:

Ladson, SC 29456
