David Ray Bryan, 81, of Brenham passed away on March 31, 2025 in Cypress, Tx. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Pastor Norman Sulaica, Jr. officiating.
He was born on December 26, 1943, in Princeton, Indiana, to William Jennings Bryan and Blanche Hugo Bryan. On November 23, 1976, he was united in marriage to, Linda Harper. Together, they built a life full of cherished moments and unwavering love. He was a man of routine and passion—whether it was keeping his truck spotless, maintaining a meticulously kept yard, or rising at 4:00 a.m. to work out, always embracing his "daylight’s burning" philosophy.
He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: hunting at his deer lease, enjoying casino trips (where luck always seemed to be on his side), dinners with friends, and perfecting the art of smoking a brisket. Watching sports with his son, William, and staying connected with his friends and brothers-in-law brought him endless happiness. But above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his granddaughters, catching up on their lives, and sharing his wisdom with them.
His warmth, humor, and steadfast love will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will carry his stories, laughter, and love with them always.
David is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William and Abbey Bryan of Cypress, Tx; granddaughters, Brooke and Alyssa Bryan. Sister, Diane Wellmann; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Liz and Johnny Willis and Janette and Kris Drosche and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Linda and brother-in-law, Delvin Wellmann.
