After high school he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, then made his home in Shreveport, Louisiana where he met the love of his life Lottie (Doll) Burk. Dave retired from 40 years of produce business and retired from Albertson's of 17 years.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; Dewey and Mary Burk, two brothers; Orville (Red) Larkin, George Burk and grand-daughter Crystal Rene' Haynes.
He is survived by his wife Lottie (Doll) Mai Burk of 66 years, a brother, Lloyd Burk and wife Mary of Rossville, Illinois and a sister Pearl Carter of Hutto, Texas; one daughter Carol Minuitti and husband Doug of Burleson, Texas; two sons David Burk, Jr. and wife Sue of Shreveport, Louisiana; Scott Burk and wife Rene' of Shreveport, Louisiana. His passions in life were his family, friends, church family and nature. Dave had a larger than life personality. His generosity for others was beyond comparison. He loved singing, traveling and spending time with his family. The greatest love of Pop's life was his children and grandchildren. Pop loved going to watch all the activities that they participated in. He loved watching them grow and spending time with them any chance he could. He was always there to help make life easier and support them in everything they chose to do.
The family would like to thank the many people who have shown their love and support during this time. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Robert Massingill, Dr. Scott, Dr. John Davis and Dr. Peter Lau and to the Superior Hospice team, JoLea, Jennifer, Alice, Karrie and Terry for their compassionate care and support of our loved one and for our family during this time.
