David Samuel Burns went Home peacefully to his Lord, Saturday morning, December 6, 2025 while being cared for in Baptist Floyd Hospital by a loving staff. He was surrounded by his brothers and sisters. David was born on February 12, 1967, to Roy and Mary (King) Burns, living most of his life in New Philadelphia then in the city of Salem.
David is survived by his siblings; Susan (Burgess) Calhoun, Sierra (Dennis) Collins, Scott (Teresa) Burns, Shelley (Melvin) Fultz of Salem and Steven (Christina) Burns of Hardinsburg. He had several nieces and nephews that he was so fond of.David was a life long member of Fort Hill Church of Christ on Becks Mill Road. He helped open and close the doors for the services on every Lord's Day. David was a 1986 graduate of Eastern High School in Pekin, Indiana. He was also a member of the Cecil Grimes Post 41 Sons of the American Legion via his dad's service in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He helped many years at the chicken BBQ from cutting cabbage for cole slaw to dobbing chicken.
David loved driving semi trucks and continued many years of over the road driving and worked for several companies until his health became an issue. His vocation was never a "job" because he loved what he did and enjoyed seeing the country.
David was a kind and gentle soul and was quick to give and laugh. He loved playing darts and visiting with close friends. He was pretty ill the last few years of his life, but never asked "why me?"
Preceding David in death are his parents, brother: Roy Burns Jr., grandparents; Kenneth and Frances King of Salem and John and Ada Burns of Austin.
Services for David will be on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Weathers Funeral Home at 7:00p.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Friday from 4:00p.m until the time of service. David will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery beside his parents and brother, Roy Jr.
