David Burns

David Scott Burns, USAF. Ret. MSGT, age 71, of Cameron, North Carolina, passed away on March 3, 2026.

David was born on August 21, 1954, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Howard Lawrence Burns and Bonnie Mae Shaw Burns. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country honorably for 24 years and retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant (E-7).

David was known by those who loved him as a man with a generous heart who would do anything for anyone, often helping others even when he did not have the means himself. If someone needed help, David was always there. He truly enjoyed life and valued the friendships and connections he made along the way.

In his free time, David enjoyed spending time on the golf course, bowling, walking, and playing pool.

He is survived by his siblings: Larry Burns of Wadsworth, Ohio; George Burns of Morgantown, West Virginia; and Bonnie Burns of Cameron, North Carolina; his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Ashworth; his granddaughter, Braelyn; his niece Melissa Boliaris (Daniel IV) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and his great-niece Aubrianna Boliaris, along with other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, Eric Howard Burns, and his fiancée, Sherlyn Ashworth.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 12:00 p.m. on March 9, 2026, at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
