David B. Campbell, 74, of Paramus, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. He was born January 30th, 1951 in Jersey City to the late Duncan and Connie Campbell.
David lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
From a young age, David had a passion for sports, especially baseball, where he earned the affectionate nickname "Speedy" for his quickness on the field. He was a proud Boy Scout under the leadership of his parents and carried the values of teamwork and service throughout his life. He cherished his lifelong friendships and was an avid supporter of his beloved New York Islanders.
David had a diverse and fulfilling career, serving as a Recycling Coordinator for Bergen County before his retirement. In his younger years, he worked as a bartender, a role that not only showcased his warm and social nature but also led him to his wife, Maureen. Together, they built a beautiful life over 42 years of marriage.
A man deeply committed to his community, David was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, an engaged voice in local politics, and a passionate volunteer soccer coach, dedicating countless hours to mentoring young athletes.
Above all, David's greatest joy in life was his role as a father to his beloved daughter, Kaitlyn. Their bond was unbreakable, strengthened by a shared love of sports, good food, and endless laughter. That love only grew when he became "Grampy" to his cherished granddaughters, Summer and Emma. He spent endless hours playing, laughing, and making memories with them, bringing them immeasurable joy. His love for his family was boundless, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Duncan and Connie, and his brother Dennis. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maureen Campbell (nee Schreck); his cherished daughter, Kaitlyn Osterlof, and her husband, Robert; his treasured granddaughters, Summer and Emma; his loving siblings, Daniel, Douglas, and Dawn Paddick; and many adored nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Farview Avenue, Paramus, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 am on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Visitation R.C. Church, 234 N. Farview Avenue, Paramus. Interment will take place at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
David's kindness, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he may be gone, his spirit will remain forever in the laughter of his granddaughters, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched.
