David Julian Campbell, Jr., a beloved partner, father, brother, papa, and friend, passed away Sept. 14, 2025 at 8:41 p.m. in Fernandina Beach, Florida, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was 65 years old.
David faced his illness with unwavering bravery and resilience, even after learning in August that his illness had become terminal. His sudden departure has left his family and friends heartbroken.
Born on Nov. 26, 1959, in Jacksonville, Florida, David made his home in Callahan, Florida. He was a man of faith in the Catholic religion throughout his life. David was preceded in death by his father, David Campbell, Sr., and his mother, Theresa Campbell.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Keri Lynn Campbell; his children, Steven Marcus Woods and Gregory Austin Julian Campbell; daughter-in-law, Shannon Campbell; and stepdaughter, Kristal Lynn Barnett (Sheffield). He was a proud grandfather to Jeena Barnett (L), Issiah Barnett, Noah Barnett, Lloyd Woods Carter, Steven Woods Carter, Kane Campbell, Aubree Campbell, and Gauge Campbell. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Campbell, and sister-in-law, Marta Campbell; sister, Julie Hinton (Campbell); nieces, Kelly Campbell, Ashley Holmes (Hinton), and Melanie Musgrove (Campbell); nephew, Mikey Campbell; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. His lifelong best friend, Thomas Hamilton, remained a constant presence in his life, along with many other cherished friends and loved ones.
Professionally, David was a devoted truck driver whose tireless hardworking ethic earned him respect across the country. Known for being a kid at heart, he brought joy to those around him with his spirited nature. David's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched on the road and at home with strength, humor, laughter and love. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
