Obituary of David Carl Carlson
David Carl Carlson, 84 of Duluth passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025. He was born May 28, 1940, to Viner and Viola Carlson and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1958. He worked at Joe's Standard, Railway Express and Wesco and retired in July of 2001. Dave served in the US Army from October 1963 to October 1965 and joined the Army Reserve February of 1966 serving in the 477th Medical Company, retiring October 1987 as 1st Sargent. He was a member of the Duluth Power Squadron and served as commander in 1986, member of the Regional Power Squadron, member of BPOE Elks 133 Duluth and the All-American Club since 1967. Dave was a long-time avid supporter of UMD Athletics with a focus on the Hockey Program.
He is a member of The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Dave married Corinne Anderson on June 17, 1967. Corinne passed away in August of 2014. Dave married Betty Kristensen on February 27, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents Viner and Viola and stepdaughter Jody Wabik. He is survived by his wife Betty Carlson, sister Sandy Johnson (Dick), brother, Tom Carlson, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and stepdaughters Kim Beede (Jeff), Shelly Falkenhagen (Jack).
He was a friend to all and will be greatly missed. His family and friends would like to thank his wife Betty for the wonderful care she took of Dave.
Funeral Services will be held at the Lake Superior Ballroom in the DECC's City Side Convention Center on March 27th at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided after the service. Dave will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at the Veterans Cemetery.
