David C. Carr, Sr., a cherished son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 4, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on May 17, 1950, in
Philadelphia, PA, David's life was a testament to his loving, funny, and friendly nature that left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
David was the beloved husband of Lucia Carr (nee Rossano) for 51 remarkable years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and enduring memories. He was a devoted father to his children, David C. Carr, Jr. (Miriam), Wendy Carr, Staci Carr (Rodney), and the late Kevin Carr. His grandchildren, Kacey, Kevin, Ronnie, and Liam Carr, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. David is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families who will surely miss him.
The son of Alice Carr (Nee Hinderliter) of Gloucester Twp and the late Raymond J. Carr. David grew up in a lively household with his siblings, the late Diane Colby, James Carr (Cathy), the late Wendy Carr, the late Robert Carr, Raymond Carr, III (Debi), Marianne Carle (Joseph), and the late Dale Carr. The bonds of family were deeply important to David, and he carried those values throughout his life.
David proudly served his country as a member of the US Army's 82nd Airborne, a period of his life that shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of duty and resilience. After his military service, he dedicated many years to Zallie's Shoprite, where he was not just a long-time employee but also a friend to many.
His commitment to service continued through his volunteer work at the Hider Lane Senior Center, where he brought joy and companionship to many. David's involvement with the American Legion Post 281 reflected his enduring patriotism and camaraderie with fellow veterans.
David was an avid bowler and golfer, enjoying the friendly competition and sharing laughs with his family and friends. His love for the outdoors was evident in his meticulously cared-for vegetable garden and fondness for fishing.
David's legacy of love, laughter, and friendship will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. David's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with this remarkable man.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St.,
Blackwood, NJ from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM with a Sharing of Memories immediately following at 7:00 PM. After the service, everyone is invited to the Gloucester Township Democrat Club, 131 Coles Road,
Blackwood, NJ for refreshments. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to: Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center, 125 County House Rd.,
