David Arthur Carroll, 53, passed away peacefully November 2, 2024 at his home in Redmond, WA. His life was suddenly and unexpectedly cut much too short with a terminal cancer diagnosis in April 2024. His passing has been devasting to his family and all who loved him. David was born with a naturally kind and giving soul, a heart of gold, and was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend.
David (Dave), was born on April 5, 1971 in Ojai, California. David's father worked for the U.S. Forest Service and the family moved several times during his childhood. David became an avid skier when the family moved to Utah, and an avid soccer player when they moved to Santa Barbara, CA. David graduated from Dos Pueblos High School in 1989 and went on to obtain his Bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara in Finance in 1994; and an MBA in 1997 from Seattle University.
Dave retired after having proudly worked for AT&T for 27 years. He was an Associate Vice President. Dave was a hard worker and was promoted several times throughout his career, moving his family across the country from Seattle, to Atlanta to Maryland, then Dallas and finally back to Seattle. He was proud to have worked on developing the cellular network across the US – helping people connect with their families and friends, and providing support for emergency services and first responders.
Dave was also a devoted runner who had finished numerous marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2000. He was an engaged father and supported his children's involvement in sports, including coaching their soccer and baseball teams for many years. He encouraged his children to connect with nature through camping and hiking, and took the family on several wonderful and memorable trips across the country. He enjoyed a beer with friends, riding his motorcycle, and learning to play the piano.
David is survived by his loving wife Sara Carroll of 22 years, and their three children: Dakota (20), Sienna (18) and Liam (15) and two dogs Mickey and Eva. He is also survived by his parents, Arthur & Diana Carroll of Hood River, OR; his siblings, Catherine Carroll of Fairfax, VA, Steve Carroll of Leesburg, VA and Linda Carroll of Vancouver, WA; and a long list of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and extended family. He will be forever missed by many.
A memorial service will be held on at 11am on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Redmond, Washington.
We invite you all to share pictures or memories. It was his wish that we laugh and reminisce, and smile together during this time.
David's family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of the Swedish Cancer Institute and Providence Hospice of Seattle. The family asks that memorial gifts be made to Providence Hospice of Seattle Foundation, 2811 S. 102nd Street, Suite 220, Tukwila, WA 98168.
