David Cavalier Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors - Utica on Jan. 8, 2024.
David Cavalier, born on November 26, 1961, passed away on January 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and dedication.
David is survived by his father: Ralph Cavalier Jr., his brother: Ralph (Jodi) Cavalier III, his nieces: Alexis (Luke) Niewoit and Alaina Cavalier, and his great-niece: Everleigh Niewoit.
He is predeceased by his mother: Joyce Cavalier.
David grew up in Sterling Heights and would go on to work in the Utica School District for 30 years. Beyond his professional life, he was an avid lover of nature, gardening, and animals. Whether tending to his own garden or exploring the beauty of the great outdoors, he found solace and joy in the natural world. He loved all animals deeply, but he especially cherished his cats. In addition to his love for nature, David found immense joy in the company of friends. His kindness and fun spirit created a welcoming space for all fortunate enough to be a part of his life. He loved his friends and family and his role as a devoted uncle was one he cherished deeply. His nieces held a special place in his heart, and he embraced the role of unclehood with love and dedication. David leaves behind a legacy of compassion and joy. May his memory continue to inspire us to cultivate the gardens of our lives with love, kindness, and an appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, from 2-8pm at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3blks. E. of Van Dyke) in Utica. A funeral service will take place the following day on Wednesday, January 10, with visitation at 10am until the service begins at 11am. A burial at Resurrection cemetery will take place following the service.
The family asks that any memorial donations be made out to the wishes of the family.

One summer when David and I were about 10 to 12 years old we decided to collect spiders. We would go out into the fields and collect them in buckets using 2 cups to capture them and bring them back to David`s house. On the Cavaliers back porch we had 5 gallon about a dozen 5 gallon buckets filled with spiders! I´m sure some were poisonous but that simply added to our interest. Being the nature lovers that we were, the spiders had sticks and foliage, and we would feed them flies and bugs. It was a wonderful summer until their dog Pepe ran through the porch and knocked them all over! There were spiders everywhere!!!!!
Well, Joyce was not amused and we had to take all the spiders back into the fields. We were so focused on our mission and had so much fun.
I´m still fascinated by spiders as an adult and I´m sure David was the same.
I will always think of David with a warm heart that only a childhood friend with shared adventures bring.
RIP David,
Janet White (Reibel)

I am so sad to hear this and my heart felt condolences to the Cavalier family.
I have so many memories of David when we were kids. He used to jump the fence to get fresh strawberries from the patch we had or come over and eat breakfast sandwiches with my dad. We never got into trouble! Jarts, football, pickle, all the games kids play.
David will be missed.
