David H. Cherney, 82, Milladore, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on March 24, 2025 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Milladore. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on March 23, 2025 at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City and from 12:00 pm until the time of service at St. Wenceslaus on March 24th.
David was born on February 3, 1943 in Milladore to Lambert and Marie (Hertel) Cherney. With resilience and determination, he built a life rooted in hard work, love, and devotion to family.
David was united in marriage to Bonnie Muzik on October 12, 1968 at St. Wenceslaus in Milladore and together they raised six children on the family farm, instilling in them the values of kindness, perseverance, hard-work, and love. He was a man with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, always ready with a joke or a good-natured prank (like surprising his grandkids with a Super Soaker), yet his heart was made of pure gold. He had an unwavering love for his family, a deep connection to the land, and a gift for bringing joy to those around him through stories of his life adventures.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, children, David, Melisa, Daren (Kristi), Darrel (Silvana), Del, and Melanie (Warren); grandchildren Sean, Eva and Owen.
He is further survived by his siblings, Richard (Karen) Cherney of Junction City, Marvin (Judy) Cherney of Franklin, Ellen (Sylvester) Schroeder of Wisconsin Rapids, William (Karen) Cherney of Milladore, Patricia (John) Dekarske of Wisconsin Rapids, Jerome (Debbie) Cherney of Ithaca, NY, Harry (Heather) Cherney of Hewitt, and Peggy (Michael) Kosloski of Junction City.
He was preceded in death by parents, a sister, Mary Ann Mayer, brothers, Francis, James, Terrance and Thomas Cherney, brother-in-law Leo Mayer, niece, Gail Seefeldt and nephews, Michael and Kevin Cherney.
David leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and hard work-a life well lived and deeply cherished.
