Michael "Mickey" Lee Slowinski, age 58, of Junction City, WI, passed away on Feb. 27, 2025, after a 14-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mickey was born in Marshfield, WI, on November 19th, 1966, to Greg and June (Blenker) Slowinski. He spent his entire life living in Junction City, WI, where he went to J. F. Kennedy grade school and made lifelong friends playing baseball, football, hockey and other fun activities in the school yard, backyards and community park of JC. He went on to marry Elizabeth (Shulfer) Slowinski on May 6, 1995, parting ways with Beth after 26 years of marriage. They raised their 2 children, Philip and Carson, in the small town that he loved. Stay-at-home vacations were his favorite but he also looked forward to bow camp in Chequamegon, fishing trips to Michigan, and extended family vacations at Lakewoods Resort in Cable, WI. He was a dedicated community member helping coordinate Junction City softball leagues, little league baseball, Community Picnic booths and supporting St Michael's Catholic Church as a young mass server, parish council member, eucharist minister, lector, audio technician and church dinner volunteer throughout his lifetime.
Mickey graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) in 1985 where he played football and baseball all his high school years. He had a passion for broadcasting and pursued a degree in Communications at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, graduating in 1989. He went on to work for WIZD radio station from 1989-1991 while also having the occasional side gig being the requested DJ for parties and weddings. In 1991 he was hired by Consolidated Papers in the converting department where he was employed for over 32 years surviving ownership changes from Consolidated, to Stora Enzo, New Page, Verso, and Billerud, while rarely missing a day of work. His coworkers were always happy when they saw they were on his production line because he was so easy going that he made the job fun and less stressful.
Mickey enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, deer hunting, gardening, exercising, cooking, grilling, making/canning sauerkraut, pickling fish/eggs/heart, watching the birds on his bird feeders, listening to Polka music and entertaining family and friends with basketball and football pools. During his early adult life, he spent many weeknights and weekends in the summer playing softball with his boyhood friends from Junction City for sponsors Sadie & Jerry's Supper Club and Emil & Rita's Hiawatha Bar and Monday night basketball (JCBA) at Kennedy School in the winter. He said he always tried to make things easier for everyone else whether at home, at work, or gatherings with family and friends.
Mickey is survived by his sons Philip (Allison Cobian) Slowinski (Stevens Point) and Carson Slowinski (Stevens Point), mother June Slowinski (Junction City), brother Glen (Debbie) Slowinski (Stevens Point), sisters Tammy (Bob) Tortorici (Junction City), Lori (Steve) Wagner (Milton) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Greg Slowinski and infant sister Marie.
He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and wants to be remembered for all the good times he had with family and friends, he said he really had a lot of fun.

So sorry to hear that Mick passed away. I worked with him @ converting for 7 years and we talked often. I also played baseball and softball against him and Glen for many years.
