David Cornwell Clinton was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on June 18, 1940 to Janet and Roy Clinton, Sr. He passed away at the age of 85 on August 14, 2025 at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock.
Known as "Bo" by all of his friends and family, he graduated from Hot Springs High, where he played football. He attended the University of Arkansas and UAMS, where he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree.
When he was 13, Bo was a page in the Arkansas House Of Representatives when his father served as a Representative from Garland County. During his teens he worked at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and participated in an exchange program in Cuba. During high school he spent several summers working for the Forest Service in the Inyo National Forest in California.
In 1966 he married the love of his life, Evlyn "Sissy" Newton McDade. In 1967 Bo and Sissy opened Clinton Pharmacy in Little Rock and later sold it to Jim Young, who operated it under the same name for 30 more years. In 1972, Bo and Sissy opened Fifth Season, a renowned gift store they enjoyed owning for 44 years until retirement. Bo was especially fond of traveling to find new product lines and of the relationships he had with tradespeople and friends he made in the industry over the years.
Bo loved history and spent time traveling across six continents with Sissy, daughter Lyn, and many friends. Some favorite trips were to Tibet, Nepal, India, Bali, Ireland, Chile, Morocco, Australia and New Zealand. Bo loved it Down Under and journeyed back to Australia several times. He also loved visiting his daughter and son-in-law on the west coast and exploring beaches, quaint towns, and wine country.
In retirement, Bo enjoyed working as a volunteer at the Stewpot in Little Rock and at the Clinton Presidential Library. He and Sissy also loved spending time with the many dachshunds they cared for over the years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sissy Clinton; daughter Lyn Clinton and husband Zackary Paal of Seattle, Washington; brother Roy Clinton, Jr. of Fayetteville; brother Dan Clinton and wife Joan of Hot Springs; and many nieces and nephews of whom he was very fond. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Elizabeth Clinton Little of Hot Springs; and his in-laws, Charles and Evlyn McDade of Little Rock.
He will be interred at Mount Holly Cemetery at a private family service.
All are welcome at a Celebration of Bo's Life at Ruebel Funeral Home on Friday, September 5th from 5-7pm.
