David Coffman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Meeks Mortuary & Crematory - Washington Street Chapel on Dec. 19, 2025.
MUNCIE- David M. Coffman, 84, passed away Wednesday morning, December 17, 2025 at Lincolnshire Place in Muncie.
He was born October 11, 1941, in Muncie, the son of Merrill and Mabel (Arlene) Coffman. David graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1959.
Mr. Coffman grew up on his family's dairy farm and continued farming all of his life. In 1963, he went into business with his brother Charlie and they created Coffman Bros Farms, Inc. in the mid 1970's. David was known as the "farm engineer;" mechanically gifted, he could envision what needed to be created and could begin the work without drawing it out. He also designed and helped build his family's home in 1979.
David served the community in several ways, including the boards for Farm Bureau, Inc., SouthSide Church of the Nazarene, and the Delaware Co Farm Service Agency.
David loved the water - he spent many summers at Lake Cumberland, Kentucky, where he enjoyed boating and water sports with his family and friends. He also enjoyed cruises and traveling around the country.
Mr. Coffman was a proud father and grandfather - forever known for the best dad jokes. He enjoyed watching and supporting his children and grandchildren at their various sporting events.
David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sheri Coffman; three children, Michael (Jennifer) Coffman, Kristen (Tony) Irvin, and Steve Coffman; three grandchildren, Austen (Samantha) Irvin, Abby (Dawson) Smith, and Samuel Coffman; one great grandson, Vincent Irvin; his brother, Charlie (Bonnie) Coffman; one sister, Marilyn Coffman; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Zebelle and Marylou Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lois Jarnigan.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, December 22, 2025, at SouthSide Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Neal Peterson officiating. It will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/share/1BmqgUXscm/?mibextid=wwXIfr. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery.
Friends may call at SouthSide Church of the Nazarene from 10:00 am until service time at 12:00 pm on Monday, December 22, 2025.
Memorial contributions can be made to the SouthSide Church of the Nazarene, 3500 W. Fuson Road, Muncie, IN 47302, or, to Alzheimer's Association of Greater Indiana, 50 E. 91st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
