Deborah Carr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Meeks Mortuary & Crematory - Washington Street Chapel on Jan. 28, 2026.
Deborah D. (Hayes) Carr, born February 23, 1963, in Huntington, Indiana, passed from earthly to eternal life in Indianapolis, Indiana following a brief illness. She was 62 years old.

Deb was the beloved daughter of Dixie Hayes and the late James R. Hayes. Deb shared a close bond with her siblings: Dawn Larsen, J. Robert Hayes (Lisa), and Randal Hayes (Cherie).

As a loving mother, she leaves behind Michael Carr, Jennifer Carr, and Christopher Carr (Victoria), who carry forward her memory with love.

Deb was also a cherished Aunt to: Maggie and her children, Allie (Christopher) and their children, Quinten, Isabella, Maxwell (Marilyn) and their children.

Affectionately known as "Barmie", she held a special place in the hearts of Adrian, Mya, Wyatt, Hunter, Jasmin, and Ava.

Deb graduated from Delta High School in 1982, and went on to build a lifelong career in restaurant management. Her dedication and leadership left a lasting impression on those she worked with and served. For the past 10 years she was a valued member of the team at Sunshine Café, where her presence brought warmth and familiarity to both coworkers and patrons alike.

She was preceded in death by her late father James Hayes, as well as her grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and multiple cousins whose memories she carried with her throughout life.

Deb's circle of love extended beyond family. She shared a lifelong friendship with Terri (Bud), whose companionship brought both joy through the years.

In keeping with Deb's generous spirt, she offered her final gift as an organ donor – a testament to her enduring compassion for others.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date to honor Deb's memory among family and friends.

"Hearts, hugs, sweet dreams" – till we meet again.

The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel is entrusted with all arrangements and online condolences may be left for the family at www.meeksmortuary.com
