David D. Coman, 89, of Tomah, died on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the Tomah VA.
On February 13, 1936, David was born to Daniel and Gladys (Glassnapp) Coman in Waukesha Wisconsin. He was a member of Waukesha High School's graduating class of 1955. Shortly after graduation, David proudly enlisted with the United States Army, he served his country proudly for over 20 years and retired as Staff Sergeant. He was a Vietnam Veteran. He was united in marriage to Emily Jean Morse on July 14, 1958. After his service he moved to Tomah in 1976. He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs and Fort McCoy. He worked at the Tomah School District Bus Garage and drove school bus. Dave liked to joke around and had a big heart. He was a member of the Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post #201, the Curtis-McNutt VFW Post #1382 and the Struck-Klandrud Post #336, Onalaska, he volunteered for Faith In Action of Monroe County, he mowed the lawn at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He liked to keep busy and enjoyed working on cars, camping and collecting hats, especially cowboy hats. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
David is survived by his children, Dinha (Brian) Leis of Sparta, and their children, Ashley Organ, Crystal Organ, Tanya Organ, Bradley (Katrina) Leis, Kayla Leis, and Brandon (Ashley) Leis; Theresa (Tim) Reeher of Tomah, and their children, David (Koral) Reeher and Travis Reeher; Wanda (Rick) Powers of Onalaska, and their children, Brandy (Matt) Erdman, William Powers, and Levi Powers; Dan (Michelle) Coman of Tomah, and their children, Kyle (Michelle) Coman, Jacob (Andrea) Coman, Joshua (special friend, Tonya) Westberg, and Ashley (Emin) Budimlic; Patty (Don) Bagley of Washington, and their child, Joshua (Brittany) Bagley; and Anthony (Jelora) Coman of Ontario, and their children Jecole (Edwin) Hochtetler and Joel Coman; 32 great grandchildren; siblings, Dennis Coman, Donald Coman, and Gloria Mungen; sister in law, Grace Coman; and many other nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Gladys; grandchildren, Brandon Reeher and Brian Ashwell; siblings, Elaine (Bill) Heckel, Ronald (Jenny) Coman, Tom Coman, and Diane (Ron) Varney; and brother-in-law, Russel Mungen.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, 12:00 Noon at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1221 LaGrange Ave. Tomah. Pastor Noah Rogness will officiate. Burial will be in the LaGrange Cemetery with military honors by the Curtis-McNutt VFW Post #1382.
