David Wayne Core

Our lives were saddened when a precious soul was called home. David Wayne Core went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 17, 2023 in Midland, TX. He brought so much joy & happiness into this world on Tuesday, July 24, 1973 when he arrived in Santa Paula, California to Francisco & Audrey Mejia. David was raised in California with his parents, where he developed his love for the beautiful ocean. After graduation, deciding he wanted to be closer to his family, he moved to Bloomfield, NM to join his parents and grandparents. At this time in the 90's while in New Mexico he decided to begin his law enforcement career and begin working at the San Juan Detention Center in Aztec, NM. David started his family in 1998. In 2004, he took a hiatus from law enforcement to work in the oilfield for Halliburton. This would relocate him to Odessa, TX where he would work for them for 20 + years. In 2019, he went back to his love of law enforcement and became a Corporal. In 2020 he welcomed his grandson Antonio into this world, and he brought him a world full of joy.
David was a very kind, loving man that enjoyed hanging out with his children and their friends. He was also an assistant cheer coach for his younger children. He was all about being there for his friends and family. He was always lending a hand to those in need. He had a love for jeeping with his Papa, family and friends. No rock was too big or steep to climb and no adventure was too big or too small. David had a world full of promise and dreams, and a heart bigger than the world. He will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him. He will forever live in our hearts.
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his son; Zachariah; daughters, Destiny, Shelby and Savannah; father, Francisco Mejia; brothers, Daniel and Francisco Jr.
David is preceded in death by his nana & papa; mother, Audrey.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 2pm. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 10 am at Acres West Funeral Chapel.
