Obituary: David O. Corral October 18, 1932 June 9, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of David O. Corral on June 9, 2025, at the age of 92, in Concord, California.
Born on October 18, 1932, in El Presidios, Tepehuanes, Durango, Mexico, David immigrated to the United States with his family in the early 1960s, forging a new life with strength, humility, and unwavering dedication. A self-taught and lifelong learner, David possessed an insatiable curiosity. He immersed himself in diverse fields including religion, philosophy, science, physics, astronomy, and literature, always eager to explore new ideas and share his insights with those around him.
David took great pride in his work and spent over three decades at Valley Disposal Company in Walnut Creek, California, where he formed lasting friendships and left a legacy of dedication and integrity.
He is survived by his life partner, Leonila Garces, and by his beloved children: David G. Corral, Matilde (Maty) Corral-Avila, Jaime Corral, and Diana Corral Faulk. He also held close to his heart two cherished children, Evette Schmelzer and Veronica Rojas, whom he loved as his own. His legacy continues through 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, each of whom carry forward his intellect, wisdom, and passion for learning.
Davids life was one of quiet strength, work, responsibility, and love for his entire extended family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral Services:
Viewing and Rosary will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oakmont Memorial Park, 2099 Reliez Valley Rd.,
Lafayette, CA.
Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1101 Keaveny Court, Walnut Creek, CA.
Burial will follow immediately after the Mass at Oakmont Memorial Park, 2099 Reliez Valley Rd.,
Lafayette, CA.
