David Allen Cronk

David Allen Cronk Sr., age 69, of Whittemore, Michigan, passed away on July 29, 2025, just one day before his 70th birthday.

Born on July 30, 1955, in Tawas City, Michigan, David was a proud lifelong resident of the state. He lived in Whittemore for the past 12 years and previously in Tawas City. David was a graduate of Tawas Area High School, class of 1974. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a cook and cook's helper for three years at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

David retired in 2023 after a 30-year career with National Gypsum, where he worked as a board-line mechanic and driller/blaster. Following retirement, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming the full-time captain of Kingfisher Charters, sharing his love of fishing on Lake Huron.

A man of many passions, David loved fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He was a dedicated member of the losco Sportsmans Club, the Michigan Charter Boat Association, and also served as a wedding officiant for close friends..

Known for his generosity, strong work ethic, and love for the outdoors, David was always willing to help others. He deeply cherished his family and friends, and his kindness and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving partner of 20 years, Tammy Verbowski; his children, David Cronk Jr. and wife Lisa Cronk of Valdez, Alaska, with their two daughters, Sydney and Zoey; and Matthew Cronk of Tawas City.

He is also survived by his parents, William and Dorothy Cronk of East Tawas; his siblings, William Cronk and wife Carol (nephew Billy), Michael Cronk and wife Mary Beth (nephew Mike and niece Stephanie), and Jeanette and husband Al Stephenson (nephews Duane and Chris). He was also very well loved by Tammy's children Erica, Aaron, and Bradley.

Preceded in death by his brother Carey Christopher Cronk.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside military service with honors is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 4:00 PM at Imaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Tawas City.
