David Allen (Dave) Crummel, 73, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on August 21, 2024 in the comfort of his home.
David was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on May 21, 1951. He graduated from Mason Senior High School in 1969 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Michigan Tech University in 1973. He married the love of his life, Kathleen (nee Herzing), on June 2, 1978, beginning an inseparable union that lasted over 46 years. He worked for Kellogg's for the entirety of his 38 year career, ranging from industrial engineering in the Battle Creek plant to Supply Chain & Logistics as the contract manager for distribution centers. Success at work was a point of pride for him, but it was ultimately a means to an end. He rarely missed an event for his children, maintained a date night for many years, and even coached his son's baseball teams. Moreover, he achieved his goals of providing more for his family than he had growing up and living a comfortable, enjoyable retirement beside his wife, during which he indulged in his hobbies of model railroading, reading, tennis, golf, and a rekindled passion for video games.
David is survived by his wife, Kathleen Crummel of Battle Creek, his son Steven (Lauren) Crummel of Royal Oak, his daughter Kristine (Michael) Schomisch of Kalamazoo, his granddaughter Sarra Crummel, and his beloved dog Teddy.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Michigan Humane Society.
