David William Crusen, age 69, of Peoria, passed away at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at his home, with his family by his side.
David was born June 18, 1955, in Peoria, a son to Donald and Joan (Needham) Crusen. He was raised and educated in Peoria, graduating from Spalding High School with the Class of 1973. David married the love of his life, Trish, on May 6, 1978 at St. Mark Catholic Church, and together they cherished 46 years. David was a member of the Carpenters Local 183 and worked in flooring for many years. He loved spending time in Canada at his cabin, fishing whenever he could and will always be remembered as a true handyman, ready and willing to tackle any project. David's most cherished memories come from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, they all adored their Bebomp. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife Patricia "Trish" of Peoria; four children: Sarah (Scott) Mabee of Dunlap, Mark (Jen) Crusen of Grand Rapids, MI, Colleen Overcash of Morton, and Kate (Miguel Thompson) Crusen of Peoria; 14 grandchildren: Ava, Colin, Max, Nathan, Gwynn, Kai, Koda, Jovi, Nico, Charlotte, Lennon, Liam, Myles and Patricia; three brothers: Tom (Helen) Crusen of Rochester, IL, Dan Crusen of Bartonville and Christopher Crusen of Peoria; three sisters: Lyn (Mark) Suits of Yates City, IL, Jan (Rich) Kreher of Springfield, and Molly (Doug) Bishop of Peoria; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Steve and Don Crusen, and one nephew Joshua Suits.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his hospice nurse, Meghan Suelter, who was a comfort to both David and his family.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Wright & Salmon Mortuary on Sunday, February 2, 2025 between the hours of 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Philomena Catholic Church on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 10:00 AM, with an additional visitation one hour prior to mass. Father Daniel Dionosotes will officiate and graveside services will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria.
Preferred memorials in David's memory may be made to Heart of Illinois Down Syndrome Association or Traditions Health.
