Steven Crusen Obituary

Steve was born on May 4, 1954, one of nine children of Donald E and Joanie "Mimi" (Needham) Crusen. Steve and his siblings have fond memories of growing up on Barker Street in the West Bluff. His life changed the day he met the love of his life, Terri Bergevin, at a Spalding vs Pekin Football game in 1968. They have been together since they were 14, married on September 14, 1973 and were married over 51 years. Terri survives.
Surviving are children, Erin (Curt) Passmore of Elmwood and children Kendra and Cole, Kristen (Tim) Karmik of Oswego and children, Anna, Catherine and Meredith, Cory (Michael) Cripe of Frankfort and children Claire and Will, Steven (Kelly) Crusen of Peoria Heights and children Ryan, Ray and Clark and Kelli (Jason) Zwirkoski of Elmhurst and children Lennox and Vance. Also surviving are siblings, Tom (Helen) Crusen, Dan Crusen, Dave (Trish) Crusen, Lyn (Mark) Suits, Jan (Rich) Kreher, Chris Crusen and Molly (Doug) Bishop.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Crusen, nephew Joshua Suits, niece Wendy Torrey and in-laws Ernest and Marie Bergevin.
Steve was an active life-long Peoria resident. He attended St. Mark's Catholic Grade School, Spalding High School and Monmouth College. Steve was in the Carpenters Union for over 30 years. In 1986, he opened Crusen's Restaurant and Bar with his wife Terri and late brother, Don "Duck" Crusen.
What brought him the most joy was any time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. Steve was the eternal optimist and the rock of his family. He will forever be missed.
Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday, November 22, 2024, at St. Mark's Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Lampitt officiating. No public visitation will be held. Burial of Ashes will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria, IL at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Children's Home Association of Illinois, 2130 N Knoxville Ave, Peoria, IL, 61603.
