Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home - Tidewater Drive Chapel on Sep. 13, 2023.
David Csillag, 75, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away on September 10, 2023. Born on April 29, 1948 in Lorain, Ohio. Dave was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones and all who knew him.
Dave was known for his strong Will and determination. From a young age, he was a hard worker, starting at his parent's grocery store at age 11. At age 18, he joined the Navy, where he served for an impressive 31 years, specializing as a master electrician and retiring with the rank of Command Master Chief. After his military service, Dave spent 15 years as a car salesman at Freedom Ford. However, his true passion in his later years was being a full-time grandpa, cherishing every moment spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his military service and career, Dave had a variety of interests and hobbies. He enjoyed fishing, shooting, and fixing things, always eager to lend a helping hand to others. Dave's dedication to his family was unmatched, and he was a loving and protective presence in their lives.
Dave will be forever remembered by his loving wife, Martha Csillag, and their children Denise "Csillag" Rawls, Michelle Csillag, Theresa Lambert, Tammy Whitley, and Dawn Miller. He was a cherished grandfather to Amanda White, Kristin Whitley, Hope Whitley, Jesika Campbell, Kyle Miller and Mason David Rawls. Nephew in law, Mathew White, as well as a doting great-grandfather to Alanah, Summer, Allie, Aubrey, Logan and Garrett. Dave is also survived by his son-in-laws, Joseph Whitley and Adam Rawls, his sister Cheryl VanWagnen, brother-in-law Ron VanWagnen, his brother Dennis Csillag, his nephew Robert VanWagnen, niece Kristina VanWagnen and his great-niece Rylee VanWagnen. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter A. Csillag, his mother Olga Csillag, and his first born daughter, Tammy Csillag.
