David Lynn Dalley

David Lynn Dalley left this world peacefully July 19, 2023. He was born on April 19, 1943 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Abram Fitzgerald and Sadie Buttars Dalley, the sixth of ten children and grew up in Idaho and Utah. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southwest Indian Mission in Arizona and New Mexico speaking Navajo. He worked for Ireco Chemicals for fifteen and a half years where he met Joyce Lynn Krainock. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple, and had three children: Dayna, David and Chandra and lived in Minnesota, Arizona, Canada, and Utah. They later divorced. He met Christie Kay Baddley Carter in Provo and they were married in the Provo Temple. She brought four children: Scott, Wendy, Megan and Thea into the family and they had one child, Katy, together. Through efforts and prayers the blended family became one.

Dave was in the Air National Guard from 1965 -71 where he was a medic but always wanted to fly. He finally achieved his dream when he became a pilot in 1989. He got his commercial and instrument ratings and enjoyed flying his friends and relatives around.

David worked as an Explosive Tech, for LaVelle Powder in Montana, he co-owned Mountain Valley Landscaping in Highland, Utah, then worked for Micron for ten years. After he retired he was a school bus driver for Alpine School District where the students enjoyed his teasing.

Dave was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions: primary teacher, counselor to the bishop, dependent Branch President, High Councilman, Stake Sunday School counselor, ward clerk, bishop's counselor, temple worker at the Mount Timpanogos Temple, and Bishop of the Development Center Ward in American Fork. He loved each calling and loved and was loved by everyone he worked with.

He and Christie were married for 41 years. After raising their children, they went on two missions and had a deep love for the people in each one. They were called to the Kenya Nairobi Mission in 2013 and to the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission in 2018.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Geraldine Lewis, Elaine Winward, Margaret Murdock and Nola Allen, and grandson, Ryan Jones. He is survived by his wife, Christie and children: Scott Carter (Babak), Wendy Walker (Max), Dayna Jones (Troy), David Dalley, Jr.(Lena). Megan Christesen (Richard). Chandra Schmidt (Bryan), Thea Hayden (Brad) and Katy Kay. They have 28 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren so far.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 22 at the Highland 2nd Ward building located 10494 North 4720 West, Highland, Utah at 2 p.m... A viewing will be held at the Lone Peak Anderson's Mortuary 6141 West 11000 North (east of the Highland City Cemetery) on Friday July 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and prior to the services at the church from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Please Share a Memory at andersonmortuary.com
