MILLERSBURG- David Fred Daugherty, 72, formerly of Licking Co., died Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Majora Lane Care Center following an extended illness.
He was born April 11, 1952 in Coshocton, Ohio to the late Fred William and Mabel Marie Walters Daugherty.
After graduation from River View High School in 1970, he went on to attend Ohio State University for his Bachelors in Biology and Ohio University for his Masters in Education. He taught biology at Lakewood Junior High School & High School for his 30 year teaching career. He was the recipient of the 2007 Leaders for Learning Award from the Licking County Foundation. He had a positive impact on a whole generation. He loved coaching 7th grade boys basketball and was an assistant coach for varsity basketball.
He was an avid reader of Tom Clancy novels and a dedicated Ohio State fan. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Keene United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his two sisters, C. Kay Mullett and Mary Ellen Daugherty, both of Coshocton; two nieces, Jeanette (Jon) Meisel and Megan Daugherty; and two great-nephews and one great-niece, Drew, Jack, and Pammie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gary Mullett.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at Fischer Funeral Home, 412 E. Main St., Warsaw, OH 43844. Burial will follow at Keene United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. FischerFuneralHome.com
