David ‘Dave’ Charles Flaherty returned to the Lord peacefully on February 4, 2024 at the Clermont Park Senior Living Community in Denver, Colorado. Dave was born in Arlington, Virginia and spent most of his formative years in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. Dave attended McLean High School and, in 1963, graduated from Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C. with a BA in Business Management. After several years providing research books to accounting and legal firms in the Washington area, his life-long desire to travel and to see the world got the better of him. He and his wife, Nancy St. Clair of Jenners Crossroads, Pa, purchased a VW camper and took delivery in Germany. That was home for the next year while traveling through Europe and North Africa. After returning to Virginia and his previous occupation, it did not take him long to understand that he preferred to be independent and be his own boss. He resettled in Denver, primarily for the outdoor lifestyle, camping, and his lifelong hobby, skiing. During his early years in Denver, he was an active member of the Schussboomers Ski Club in Breckenridge.

His work ventures included the supply and installation of commercial and residential solar hot water systems and partnering in a home inspection service. For the last 30+ years, he has owned and managed several apartment buildings in the south Denver area. Throughout his life, his love of travel to new places always allowed him to squeeze in frequent sabbaticals to Australia, New Zealand, and several countries in S.E. Asia.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents Chares A. and Alice A. (Miller) Flaherty, both of Pittsburgh, Pa.

He is survived by a brother Michael M. Flaherty, sister-in-law Angela E. Flaherty, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and sister Mary (Flaherty) Lewis and brother-in-law Jeffery Lewis of Arlington, Virginia and Southport, North Carolina. He is also survived by two nephews, Daryl Distler of Wylie, Texas and Alex Lewis of Oakdale, Minnesota. One of Dave’s greatest pleasures was being an uncle. He enjoyed vacationing with his nephews and watching them grow through their various stages. He was very proud of the outstanding young men they both became.
