David "Dave" Kent Kay of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully at his home, with his family by his side, on Friday, April 12, 2024. He was 68 years old. David Kent Kay was born on July 13, 1955, in Jackson, Michigan, to the late Max C. and Ruby M. (Durden) Kay. He was raised in Brooklyn, Michigan, and a proud graduate of Columbia High School. Following graduation, he briefly attended Michigan State University. Upon his return home, he met the love of his life, Cheryl Lynn Lewis, while listening to bands at Dizzy's in Brooklyn. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 7, 1976; she survives him. Dave was employed at Kay Communication, retiring after 38 years of loyal and dedicated service. The role of his lifetime, one he treasured and cherished above all others, was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and watching NASCAR races. His little piece of heaven was spending time with his family. Dave will forever be remembered for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, for having a soft heart selflessly helping anyone in need, for always doing the right thing and passing this trait down to future generations, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Cheryl L. Kay of Saginaw; two sons: Matthew (Amy) Kay of Chelsea; William Kay of Saginaw; three granddaughters: Madison and Marissa Kay of Chelsea; Adelyn Kay of Saginaw; two brothers: Gary (Joann) Kay of Brooklyn; Carl (Betty) Kay of Harrison. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Max and Ruby Kay.
Honoring Dave's wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, Michigan, 48603.
