David “Dave” O. Wood, age 74, of Ripon, WI passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Ripon Community Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Dave was born on June 1, 1951 in Ripon, WI, son of Milton and Dorothy (Wilhelms) Wood. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1969, and went on to earn his Associates Degree. On July 30, 1988 he married Kaye Kroll. Dave worked for CR Meyer in Oshkosh, WI for 42 years, retiring as job superintendent. After retirement he worked out of his wood shop, where he loved to build and create pieces of art for anyone who wanted something built, especially because he could watch or listen to the Brewers, Packers, or Badgers games while he worked. His attention to detail and passion for the projects went above and beyond any expectations. Dave was a proud and devoted member of the Ripon Lions Club, where he served as past President; was a past WI Lions Foundation Director; and was recognized with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award as well as the Birch-Sturm Fellowship Award for his commitment and dedication.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Kaye Wood; his daughters, Sarah (Tim) Wood and Anne (Montell) Shumate, both from Green Bay, WI; his grandchildren, Kylee, Zach, Grace, Matthew, and Katie; step-grandchildren, Davin, Dillon, and Katie; a sister, Linda Neuenfeldt; brother-in-law, Gary (Jean) Kroll; a special sister, Yukiko Yushino; Godmother, MaryAnn Woicek; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Matthew Wood; parents, Milton and Dorothy Wood; brother and sister-in-law, Les and Pat Wood; son-in-law, Don Shumate; Godson, Adam Wood; several aunts and uncles; and in-laws, Darrell and Berdine Kroll.
Per Dave’s wishes, a private family memorial service will be held at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, with Rev. Kevin P. Mundell officiating.
A Celebration of Life for Dave’s family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Pastimes Pub & Grille, 120 Scott St, Ripon, WI 54971.
