BOONVILLE - Mr. David Steven “Steve” Daye, 76, of Yadkin County, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.
Steve was born on January 30, 1949, in Yadkin County to the late Mack Quincy Daye and Doris Martin Singleton. He devoted much of his life to his career as a mechanic at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company before retiring. A man of deep faith, Steve was a longtime member of Charity Baptist Church, where his presence and devotion touched many lives.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—watching auto racing, especially NASCAR, attending tractor shows, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Above all, Steve’s heart was with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved being present at his loved ones’ sporting events, going on shopping trips, or simply enjoying their company with his favorite coffee, popcorn, and Oreos.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Mack Daye; his mother, Doris Martin Singleton; his stepfather, Glenn Amos Singleton; his beloved wife, Linda Gail Dixon Daye; and his brother, Randy Daye.
He is survived by his son, Christopher David Daye and wife, Sandra; granddaughters, Savannah Williams and husband, Jonathan, and Brianna Milholand and husband, Scott; great-grandchildren, Vaida and Walker Williams and Waylon Milholand; sister, Kim Daye Gentry; brother, Jeffery Earl Daye and wife, Robin; nephews, Patrick and Jacob Daye; mother-in-law, Dorothy Dinkins Dixon; and several special friends, including Max Phillips.
The family will receive friends from 12:00–1:00 PM on Thursday at Charity Baptist Church in Boonville. A funeral service celebrating his life will follow at 1:00 PM at the church, officiated by Rev. Marty Nixon and Rev. Chris Benfield. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for their loving care of Mr. Daye.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 516 Hawthorne Drive, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
The nightly ceremony in Washington, D.C. will be dedicated in honor of your loved one on the day of your choosing.
