David Dillard, age 71, resident of Rock Springs, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Parkridge Medical Center, Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mr. Dillard, son of the late Coy Wallace Dillard and Pearl Odell Ballew Dillard, was born November 13,1953 in Springfield, Tennessee. He was Baptist by faith and a machinist and mechanic for over 40 years. David enjoyed working in his yard, also repairing all types of equipment at his home. While at home, you would always find him playing his guitar – music was a huge part of his life. He also enjoyed NASCAR, camping, and listening to country, classic rock, and gospel music. Most of all, he always looked forward to spending quality time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. The family remembers him as a man who showed kindness to everyone – and was generous to not only his family but to the friends in his life. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Jean Tinsley and Lillie Belle Rice; two brothers, Clifford Dillard and Dennis Dillard; and a granddaughter, Hailey Long. David is survived by two daughters, Kristy (Daniel) Abernathy and Penny Dillard; two sons, Tony Daniels and Brandon Dillard; one brother, Ricky Dillard; eight grandchildren, Michael Daniels, Christopher Daniels, Taylor Long, Meagan Long, Falicia Blakemore, Miranda (Jerrel) Adams, Kya (Calvin) Butner, and Mackenzie (Roddy) Hickman' six great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Emma, Amelia, Ryder, Ayzley, and Annamarie; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, 555 West Cloud Springs Road, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, 2 p.m. with Reverend Barry Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 1, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. and also prior to the service on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. Arrangements by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, 555 West Cloud Springs Road, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.
