David J. Doverspike, 88, of North Smithfield, passed away on March 11, 2024, at St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield. He was the husband of Vera (Atanasova) Doverspike.
Born and raised in Aliquippa, PA, he lived in Ambridge, PA, until 2013 when he moved to RI with his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents Jay and Nellie (Snyder) Doverspike, his siblings, Annabella Swogger (Buck), Norma Floyd (Leland), Bob Doverspike (Joan), Mary Etta Petiya (Ed), Lee Doverspike (Kathleen), Donald Doverspike, and his son Gary Doverspike (Joanne).
He is survived by his sons, Scott Doverspike (Katie) and Don Doverspike (Leslie); step-daughter Diane Koro; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
David served in the United States Army 10th Infantry Division in Germany after completing his training at Fort Riley, Kansas. After his military discharge, he worked at Jones & Laughlin Steel (which later became LTV) until the mill's closure in 1987 when he retired.
Dave had a passion for the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he loved to work in his garden.
His funeral service and committal with Military Honors will be private for the family.
