Obituary
David D. Eckleberry, 73, of Lanoka Harbor, died on Saturday, March 25, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, NJ, he was raised in Carteret and Edison. He then moved to Ocean County with his wife Debra Green Eckleberry of 3 years in 1976.
Dave worked for his father at age 12 doing home milk deliveries for Durling Farms. As an adult he was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for 40yrs. He retired from Rich-Mark Trucking, Bayville N J. Dave was a hard worker and good provider. He loved astronomy, music, making guitars, football (especially the NY Jets), PGA and NASCAR.
Dave was predeceased by his parents Dorsey J. Eckleberry and Albina Dunaj Eckleberry, his brother Kenneth Eckleberry, all from Greeley, PA. Surviving are his siblings Jeanne Garvin and her husband Bob of Sand Springs, Ok, Dorsey Eckleberry and Debra Simmering of Altoona Pa, Jet Eckleberry and his wife Celeste of Philadelphia, Pa, and Joy Lynn Cook of Tulsa Ok; his longtime companion and high school sweetheart Debra M. Eckleberry of Bayville, Daughter Stefanie Stevens and her son's Nicky and Christian; his niece Jennifer Baker and family of Tulsa Ok, nephews Ed Cook, Jr and family from OK, Micah Garvin and family from OK, Daniel Garvin and family, OK. He was a Great Uncle and devoted friend.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 1pm - 3pm at Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd. Bayville, NJ 08721. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
