West Cobb Funeral Home & Crematory - MariettaDavid Keith Evans, age 71, passed away August 8, 2025. David, a loving father and husband, was the son of William Keith Evans and Carolyn Whitlock Evans. David was born in Rome, GA and spent most of his childhood and early adult years in Valdosta, GA.
David was a graduate of Valdosta High School, Valdosta State University and Kennesaw State University with degrees in finance. David was an active member of the Delta Chi fraternity at Valdosta State University. David was known among his college friends as “Free Lunch” a nickname he gladly wore.
David’s career spanned sales of finance with Hewlett Packard and his last years at Bass Pro Shops in Acworth.
David loved people in so many ways volunteering at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church with children and youth. David was passionate about guiding people in career changes working with the Career Crossroads program for BHBC. David loved golf and college football.
David is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gayle Rowland Evans, his daughter, Emele Evans and his sister Dana Lane Evans. David is also survived by his mother-in-Law and many nephews and nieces.
David’s celebration of life will be held September 6, 2025 at 3pm at Burnt Hickory Baptist, Powder Springs, GA. Visitation will be from 2-3pm at the church. Please wear your college football colors as part of the celebration of David’s life.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to the Burnt Hickory Baptist Church Counseling Center by donating to their annual golf tournament at the link or through donation by check. www.burnthickory.com/davidevans
