David Arthur "Block" Fields

David Arthur Fields “Block”, age 56, of Logan, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly at home on February 20, 2026. Born on October 7, 1969, he was a retired surface miner who worked hard throughout his life and took pride in providing and caring for those around him. Known for his big heart and generous spirit, he was always willing to lend a helping hand or share a warm meal with friends and family. He loved to cook and was happiest gathered with others, whether it was around the table, playing darts with friends, or enjoying the outdoors riding side-by-sides. David had a deep appreciation for square-body Chevys, and all things classic and mechanical. Two of his greatest joys were his boxer, Chief, and his cat, Jolene.

David will be remembered for his laughter, his loyalty, and the simple, meaningful moments he shared with those he loved. David was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ann (Maynard) Fields.

Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Mearl “Bo” Fields; his brother, James Green; along with many special friends. 

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, February 27, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Godby, WV.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. 

David’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
