David Anthony Fillyaw, age 43, of Muscoda died July 22, 2024, in a motorcycle crash. He was born at home December 15, 1980, in Nashville, TN to Jerry (Gerald) and Terry (Hamm) Fillyaw. He graduated from Richland Center High School in 1999. His family lived in Nashville, TN, Daytona Beach, FL, Nashville and Albany, GA & and he arrived in Sextonville, WI with his mom & siblings March 1st, 1990.
David was an all-out motorcycle enthusiast, who loved riding with friends, bought, sold, repaired and collected a plethora of bikes in his shop, D&J Repair Auto & Cycle in Muscoda. Nearly 20 years ago he and his father took over the shop at 107 E. Walnut St. filling it with motorcycles, cars, equipment & tools. His shop became a hub for more than auto and motorcycle repair providing a great service for his community. He was an accomplished auto mechanic and bike aficionado. His shop became a continual gathering place for customers, neighbors and his cherished family of friends. His web of connections was huge. His death is a sad loss to the biker nation. He kept his mom's white '61 Ford Starliner on the road since 2007. His Dad passed two days before the trip to bring it up from Georgia as a replacement for the black '61 Starliner he had throughout David's childhood. His mom still shows up at Car Shows and Cruise- ins in her Starliner. It is the Fillyaw family car.
He loved being on the water with his dog, Stan, and many friends while boating, jet skiing, fishing and letting loose on the sandbar. He had an explorer's spirit and welcomed chances to travel back to his Southern roots and Wisconsin back roads. He made friends wherever he went. Those connections remained to his last day and beyond. He was fun loving, not shy to speak his mind, and stood up for his friends. He could be very direct but found a way to be funny at the same time. His mom's cooking inspired him to cook with his girlfriend, Aleisha, many friends and enjoyed family gatherings at his mom's.
David is survived by his Mother Terry Fillyaw, sister Marge Fillyaw, brother Jarrett and (Cindy) Fillyaw, his niece Hazelyn Fillyaw and Aunt Phyllis (Greg) Fillyaw-Maine, Uncle Mark (Carol) Hamm, Aunt Dawn Murphy, Uncle Steve Hamm, Aunt Beppi (Jim) Hutmire, cousins in Nevada, Montana, Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Australia. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends near and far. He is preceded in death by his father Jerry, all his Grandparents, Aunt Frances Karr, Uncle Kenny Fillyaw and cousin William Anderson.
A Celebration of Life for David will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, August 26, 2024, with visitation starting at 3:00 pm at the Clary Funeral Home in Richland Center. There will be a meal for everyone afterward. Immediately following the meal will be a memorial vehicle cruise (leaving the funeral home) along the river to his shop with a time to share cherished memories. www.clarymemorialfuneralhome.com
