David Leroy Fincher, 67, beloved husband, father, Pa-Paw, brother, and son, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on May 21, 2025, in Cameron, Texas.
David was preceded in death by his father, Millard Fincher. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Ramona (née Cummings); his children Laura Leal (Andrew), Jessica Hopfenspirger, and Alyssa Pitts (Ty); and his cherished grandchildren: Hagen Pitts (10), Liam Hopfenspirger (9), Emerie Pitts (7), Finn Hopfenspirger (7), Alexi Lander (6), and Zane Pitts (6 months). He is also survived by his loving mother, Modene Wheeler Fincher; his siblings, Melinda Fincher and Rodney Fincher (Rhonda); and many dear nieces and nephews.
Born on October 12, 1957, in Cameron, Texas, the second of three children, David was proud to be a Yoeman and later married his high school sweetheart. At Yoe High School, he was active in both football and track and earned the esteemed rank of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America.
David continued his football journey at Tarleton State University before transferring to Blinn College. After his wife graduated from Texas A&M and they welcomed their first daughter, David brought his growing family back to Cameron, the town he loved, to raise their three children, whom he affectionately referred to as his "hunting buddies."
He was fiercely loyal to his friends and family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. David devoted his life to Christ and was a founding member of Grace Church in Cameron. In recent years, he discovered a new joy in beekeeping, a passion he lovingly shared with his grandson, Liam.
A celebration of David's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Grace Church in Cameron, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. The family warmly invites you to stay for a lunch reception following a private burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor David's servant heart by donating your time or a gift to a charity of your choice.

I remember David being at our house with Joe Kent ALL the time and those crazy baby coons they were raising in our back yard ! He and Joe Kent were always busy outside doing something or making something! He was an amazing person and I know there will be a big hole in your family without him. He was a good man very honest and was always good to others.

David was a good friend that ran a trap line with me back in our High school days. We hunted and fished together when we were kids. Have some funny stories from catching ducks to bottle rocket wars. We always spoke about the old days when we saw each other. He was a a true Yoeman and will be missed. Praying for the family.

We love you all so much. Glenn and I reconnected with David recently because he took care of our pest control needs here in Georgetown. It was so very nice to see him and hear about family. We were looking forward to getting honey when his new bee business was established. We will miss him so very much. Finchers are wonderful generous people. My mother was a Fincher. Glenn´s grand mother was a Wheeler. We try to explain to people how we are both relatives to David. Love you all!
