Misty Michelle (Harrison) Fincher, age 53, was born on September 20, 1971, in Center, TX and passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends on June 22, 2025.
Misty grew up in Shelbyville, TX and graduated from Center High School in 1990 as the valedictorian of her class. She then attended Stephen F. Austin University where she earned a bachelor's degree in education in 1993. Her thirty-year teaching career began at Timpson ISD and ended at Cinco Ranch High School in Katy ISD, with stops at Center, Shelbyville, and Plano ISD's in between. Her commitment to education left a lasting impression on students and colleagues. She loved teaching and found joy in helping young people be successful. After retiring from the classroom, Misty privately tutored secondary-level math students and wrote math lesson curriculum for Accelerate Education. Anyone who knows Misty knows that she lived for her family. The happiness of her loved ones brought her joy.
Misty is lovingly remembered by her husband, Joe (J.D.) Fincher, daughter Abigail (Abby) Fincher, parents Guy and Esther Harrison, aunts Paula Harris (Jack), Emily Holt (Bill), Mary Lou Cox, special family members Mick Doggett, Kristyn Aaron, and Jordan Doggett and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest a donation in Misty's name to a charity of your choosing. There will be a visitation on Thursday, June 26 from 6-8pm and a memorial service on Friday, June 27 at 11am at Schmidt Funeral Home on Grand Parkway in Katy, TX.
