David John Fishlock, 75, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, October 30, 2024, with his daughter by his side at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
David Fishlock was born on July 23, 1949, in Sharon, PA, the son of Richard and Helen (Wiesen) Fishlock. He graduated from Sharon High School in 1968 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Food and Hospitality Management from Penn State University.
A proud Vietnam War veteran, David served with distinction from 1969 to 1971, earning several honors, including three Bronze Service Stars and an Air Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster.
David retired as a Regional Manager with Westgate Resorts in Gatlinburg, TN, after a successful career in hospitality management. His career took him to the West Coast and Park City, UT., and he was notable for helping to open a Marriott Hotel in Cairo, Egypt, where he had the memorable experience of climbing the Great Pyramid.
An adventurous spirit, David loved the outdoors and spent his life sharing that love with others. He was an avid mountain climber, downhill skier, and hiker, and he cherished adventures like exploring the Narrows in Utah with friends and family. David had a gift for friendship, and his warm, magnetic spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He embodied a unique courage and humility that set him apart from others.
David is survived by his beloved daughter, Alicia A. Fishlock of Beloit, WI; his brother, Bob Fishlock (Kathy) of Lancaster, NY; his cherished grandchildren, Atticus and Etta; his niece Kim (Chris) and nephew Tom (Joelle); and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Helen Fishlock.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans at help.dav.org.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no calling hours.
A celebration of David's life will be held by his family at a later date.

Your obituary said Dave's "warm, magnetic spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met." I was one of those people. I met Dave out here in Utah through my college friend Tom Stechschulte and his wife, Val. Tom said "you have to meet my buddy. He's a great guy." How right he was. We started golfing together, the four of us, and then Dave and I continued after Tom and Val moved to southern Utah. We'd meet at Mountain Dell, halfway between our houses. We played together before and after the pandemic, and talked on the phone during it. I was sadly disappointed when he moved back East but thoroughly understood why. I'm so glad he got to play golf at that free community course he was so proud of. Sometimes people come through your life that you only know for a relatively short time, but you nonetheless become thick as thieves. That's how I felt about Dave. Hit 'em straight and long, good buddy. Go Nittany Lions. Resist the Orange Cockroach.

I am so saddened by the news of Dave's passing. I had the pleasure to work with him for many years and I always enjoyed our conversations and teamwork. My thoughts and prayers got out to his family and friends....no doubt, he will be missed!
