David Brian Fletcher

AUGUSTA-David B. Fletcher, 83, passed away on February 12, 2026. He was born on December 18, 1942, a son of Leon and Helen (Costley) Fletcher.

He attended St. Mary's Grammar School and graduated from Cony High School in the class of 1961. In addition he graduated from Hanson Barber School in 1982.

David worked for the State of Maine Department of Transportation for 33 years. He was active in coaching St. Mary's basketball and Little League Baseball, a role he enjoyed thoroughly as he wanted to extend children the same opportunity he had.

He was predeceased by his parents; sisters: Frances Ayotte and her husband Clifford, Regina Diplock and her husband Robert, Nancy Guerin and her husband Don, and a brother, Ed Fletcher and his wife Sally; a nephew, Mark Gorman; as well as his special aunt, Sr. Dionysia, RSM.

David is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Susan Fletcher; a brother, Thomas C. Fletcher and his wife Sandra, brother-in-law Patrick Gilbert and his wife Julanne; nieces: Mary Ayotte, Barbara Mispilkin, Stacia Beimler, Alison Giorlando and her husband Frank, Suzy Linardis and her husband George, and Emily Gilbert and her wife Morgan; and a nephew, Samuel Gilbert and his wife Cassie McKarns.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Cheleuitte and his team for the wonderful care provided to David over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in David's name may be considered to Bread of Life Ministries, 159 Water St., Augusta, ME 04330.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 19th from 4 pm to 6 pm at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 20th at 10 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 41 Western Ave., Augusta, ME 04330.
