David Forcier Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. - Woodbridge on Aug. 31, 2022.
David Norman Forcier, 82, of Woodbridge passed away in his home on August 22 surrounded by his loving family. Dave was born in Rochester, New Hampshire to Antonio and Blanche (Caya) Forcier on May 21, 1940, and attended Holy Rosary High School in Rochester. He married Carolyn (Garbacki) Forcier on May 28, 1982 in Ellicott City, Maryland, joining their two families into one.
Dave graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1964. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired as a Lt. Colonel from the Army after serving for 20 years. He received several Army commendations and awards, including the Bronze Star. After his retirement, Dave worked for 25 years as an award-winning commercial property manager for the Charles E. Smith Company in Crystal City, VA. He was a natural performer and was involved in community theater for many years. Dave also volunteered as a literacy coach for local adults, and earned multiple Volunteer of the Year awards for his work at the ACTS Food Pantry in Dumfries, VA. When their children were younger, Dave, Carolyn, and the kids spent many evenings playing charades and other games, as well as heading out on numerous family outings, all piled into his vintage 1967 cherry-red convertible Camaro. Dave knew how to enjoy life, and throughout the years was happiest when joined poolside by family and his many friends, drink in hand, listening to the likes of Led Zeppelin or Bon Jovi. He was a great lover of rock and roll music, and his record collection is legendary. Family lip-synch sessions were frequent, especially to Don McLean's "American Pie:" " A long, long time ago, I can still remember how the music used to make me smile."
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Carolyn, and his granddaughter Danielle Middleton. He is survived by his five children Lisa (Kenn) Hurley of Kingston, NY and their children Lauren, Sean, Meghan, and Emily; Jennifer (Robert) Delorie of Exeter, NH and their sons Gael and Oscar; Joseph (Teresa) Mathern of Stafford, VA; Geoffrey (Amy) Forcier of Tahoe City, CA; and Michael Mathern of Woodbridge, VA; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
Dave's family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to his friend and neighbor Lanette Taylor, without whose love and care Dave would have left us much sooner.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson's research or to the ACTS food pantry in Dumfries.

Dave was my first friend after moving from Gonic to Rochester, NH in 1955. I worked with him at my first job at Arthur's Mkt. He was an inspiration to me. He burned the midnight oil while attending UNH. We travelled together in a new 1960 Corvair with another engineer friend. When he was a new second lieutenant I had just graduated from the Army Language School and we happened to meet in Rochester catching up with lots of stories. Dave was stationed in an armored outfit and his Battalion Commander was Gen. Patton's son. He had a distinguished military career and achieved the rank of Full Bird Colonel. He was a wonderful man, a true Prince Amongst Men!! Old soldiers never die and they'll all meet in Heaven.

So sad to read about Dave´s passing. What an amazing man and friend to so many people! I knew Dave during my time at ACTS first as Client Support Services Manager and then as Client Support Services Director. I can honestly say that everyone who knew Dave at ACTS, Loved Dave! When I would arrive at work, I knew it would be a great day if his little red car was parked in the side lot! He had such a passion for helping at the food pantry! And every client who received assistance from Dave, left with a smile on their face. Even if they were grumpy from a long line, Dave would have them smiling by the time their groceries were in his car! I will ALWAYS be thankful that I crossed paths with him for those 5 years, and I send love and condolences to your family as you remember and mourn Dave! I always said, "he is such a force of nature!" Playing off his las name lol. I am sure I am not the first, nor the last to make that comparison
