Mr. Friedline was the first teacher who made me feel passionate about writing. I'll never forget our conversation about a short story I wrote my senior year and how excited he was about it. He was incredibly smart and fair when it came to teaching. I'm sadden that no other student will be able to sit in a class taught by him. My thoughts are with his family. You'll be missed.

Mr. Friedline's classes were the beginning of a love of journalism and English. He was always encouraging and a wonderful person. I wish I had gone back to say hi again. RIP and my best wishes to your family.

I was a student of Mr. Friedline's at MVRHS. He was always passionate about teaching, and you could see the joy in his eyes when his students understood what he was teaching them.
When I think about my time and MVRHS and how much Mr. Friedline loved it there, a quote comes to mind: A good teacher is like a candle - it consumes itself to light the way for others. ~Author Unknown.
That is what Mr. Friedline did, he worked to light the way for others and he encouraged all of his students to follow their dreams. My deepest condolences go out to his family for their loss.

I can't say I remember even half of the classes or teachers I had in high school, but I certainly remember Dave. He was one of those teachers that just "got it". Everyone I know enjoyed being around him, he always made class fun and was there for his students. You will be greatly missed. Forever may you Rest in Peace.

I always enjoyed going to Mr. Friedline’s English class. There was never a dull moment with him up front speaking about the books we have read. The future students of Mascoma are going to miss out on a great teacher. I am glad I had the chance of having him as a teacher and getting to know him. Mr. Friedline and his family will be in my prayers.

He was an awesome guy. An overall good human being. One of my favorite teachers of all-time. He was also a really good guitar player, and i'll never forget jamming with him after school. I feel so bad right now that I hadn't gone back to Mascoma to visit him after I graduated. He was more than a teacher to me, he was a friend, and I can't believe that in the years gone by, that we drifted apart. I'll never forget you man. RIP. Much love. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

Very sorry for your loss. Mr. Friedline was my English and Yearbook teacher and he was a great man. He always helped us in any way possible and would even stay late so we could use the computers in his classroom to do schoolwork on. He had a passion for teaching and for life as well, it was clear to see. He will be missed, and my thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Mr. Friedline was one of my favorite teacher's at Mascoma High School that truly made me want to pursue a direction in loving English. I remember him teaching me how to design layouts for the school newspaper as well as how to advance my English writing skills before attending Plymouth State University in 2006. Thanks so much for being a great teacher and truly having a passion towards your students and teaching. Rest in Peace.

Mr. Friedline was one of my favorite teachers during my time at Mascoma HS. He inspired me to enjoy reading, writing and shared a passion for journalism. I took his Journalism class for 3 years because I loved to help publish the school newspaper. He would let me stay afterschool to finish designing and editing the paper and commended me for my hard work. I truly enjoyed his company in class. I am deeply saddened for his family's loss and my prayers will be with them.
