David Gadaire Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hays Funeral Home - Northborough on Feb. 2, 2025.
Northborough –
David C. Gadaire, 68, beloved husband, devoted father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, January 31, 2025. David was born in Pendleton, Oregon, the son of Paul L. Gadaire Jr. and Carol C. (Greer) Gadaire. At an early age, the family relocated to Northborough; a town which David was most proud to raise his family in and considered his lifelong home. David was a graduate of Algonquin Regional H.S. prior to earning his B.S. in Psychology from Alleghany College where he made life-long friends.
David was known for his gentle heart and kind soul. He devoted his life to the benefit of others; especially the marginalized and oppressed, everyone was equal in David's eyes, where there were no labels. Along with his beloved wife Cindy, David would give of his resources in the most selfless of ways. He was a true giver in every sense of definition, carrying this trait seamlessly between his personal and work life.
For many years, David served as President and CEO for MassHire-Holyoke Career Center formerly known as CareerPoint, where he built a culture of family. He worked tirelessly and strongly believed in the mission of his life's work at this organization. David was a true advocate for equity and social justice. Known for his quick unfiltered jokes of which he claimed there were only 5, he used humor to connect with people in ways words alone often could not. He was a true New England sports fan and had no hate for anyone, besides the Yankees!
He was most devoted to his parents and siblings, wife and children. Life became even brighter when he became a grandfather to Henley Farina who affectionately called him "Papi". When the loss of family members left his nieces and nephew without parents, David stepped in without hesitation, caring for them as his own. Hardly a day would pass without a phone call- just to check in.
Surviving David is his devoted wife of 42 years, Cindy Gadaire; his two daughters, Kalie Farina and husband (Devon) of Seattle, WA and Elizabeth Gadaire of Eugene, OR; his parents, Paul and Carol Gadaire of Pendleton, OR; a sister he adored, Michele Sheppard and husband (Steve) of Bend, OR; a sister-in-law, Gwen Gadaire of NC; and several nieces and nephews. As he closed his eyes to this life, he reunited with his precious son, Alex Gadaire, his brothers, Gary and Steven Gadaire whom he idolized and biological father Don Smith.
A time of visitation will be held between 12- 3p.m. on Sunday, February 9th, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Northborough. Burial will be in Oregon.

David was one of the nicest, gentlest, and beautiful people I have ever known. I had the pleasure of working with him while he ran CareerPoint and we became good friends. His humor was unmatched, and his love for the people he worked with was unparalleled. I was privileged to call him a friend. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

Dave will be sorely missed. He was always kind and had a great way of looking at things. I worked with him for a while as support to a monthly group of employer specialists. I appreciate the time I was privileged to work with him. Peggy Colligan
