David R. Garlick, age 78, husband of Nancy (Menninger) Garlick, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Lankenau Hospital, Wynnewood, PA after meeting cancer with grace and courage for many years. Born on December 8, 1946, in Palo Alto, CA, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Minerva R. (Daley) Garlick. Dave was a graduate of Sonoma Valley High School in Sonoma, CA, and went on to earn his bachelor's degree in biological sciences from UC Davis. In his early years, as he often liked to say, he worked just enough to cover his golf greens fees-a passion that brought him joy throughout his life. By his mid-20s, he entered the corporate world, where he built a successful career over two decades. He later fulfilled a long-held dream of running his own business for ten years before closing his professional journey as a respected commercial real estate appraiser. Curious by nature and deeply thoughtful, Dave was a lifelong learner who delighted in research and reading. His interest in genealogy became a years-long pursuit of tracing his family's history, a reflection of his profound love for family and heritage. Above all, his devotion to those he loved was unwavering, and time spent with them was his greatest joy. Dave also lived out his values through service to others. While in California, he was an active member of the Interfaith Church Community in Orange County, helping individuals move from homelessness to stable employment. After relocating to Pennsylvania, he continued this spirit of service with Phoenixville Area Community Services (PACS). Beginning in 2009, he served as a board member, food rescuer, and long-time chair of the PACS Open Bowls event, while also contributing to the planning of the organization's new facility. Since 2010, he gave his leadership to the Fernleigh Homeowners' Association, where he served as President for several consecutive terms and most recently as a continuing board member and caretaker of the community. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sister, Mary Ann Bogart; and nieces Kristin and Allison. He was a loving great-uncle to five great-nephews and one great-niece, and a proud uncle to his wife's two nephews and niece. His life was also richly woven with the companionship of his sixteen close cousins, whom he treasured as true partners along life's path. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Please continue to check back for updates. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to PACS by visiting www.pacsphx.org. Arrangements are being handled by the Campbell - Ennis - Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Phoenixville, PA. Condolences may be offered online at www.PhoenixvilleFuneralHome.com.
