David R. Gatchel

David R. Gatchel, age 82, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2023 at home. Born to Raymond and Edith Decker Gatchel in Chester, PA, David has resided in Wilmington, DE since 2016, previously residing in Lewes, DE and Aston, PA. Prior to retirement in 2001, he was a machinist for over 30 years at Westinghouse and Boeing. He liked cats and supported many animal rescues. David loved cooking and entertaining and was the life of the party. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen M. Bandurski Gatchel, children, Robert D. (Joyce) Gatchel, Gretchen C. Gatchel, and David Leidy, two grandchildren, Stephen and Valerie, two great grandchildren, Isla and Emmi, and sister, Janet (Brian) Young. Services are private.
