Michael McClay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pagano Funeral Home on Feb. 21, 2026.
Obituary of Michael William McClay

Michael W. McClay, age 59, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away on February 19, 2026, at Beebe Hospital in Lewes with his loving family by his side. Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, Michael was raised in Boothwyn by his late father, William McClay, and his mother, Barbara "Bobbi" Panico McClay.

Michael made his home in Lewes for the past 20 years, having previously lived in Boothwyn, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Chichester High School, Class of 1985, he spent many years working as a bartender, a profession he truly enjoyed for the friendships and connections it brought into his life.

Michael found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing and was an avid reader. In his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating and skiing. A passionate Civil War historian, Michael had a deep appreciation for American history and could often be found immersed in books on the subject.

Michael was predeceased by his father William as well as his beloved grandmothers Frances Patro and Myrtle Ficaturo. He is survived by his devoted mother, Bobbi McClay; his three brothers, Ralph (Peggy) McClay, William (Julie) McClay, and Christopher (June) McClay; his daughter, Stefanie, granddaughter, Adrianna; as well as a niece, two nephews, and his beloved lab, Glory.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's memory to Humane Animal Partners Delaware, 18675 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, or to the donor's favorite no-kill animal shelter.
