David William Gault, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on June 22, 1947, in
Martin, Kentucky, to George Tabor Gault and Lois Delane Hobbs Gault. David grew up in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he graduated from Central High School in 1965.
David's life was marked by dedication to his family, church, and career. He was married to his loving wife of 58 years, Jackie Acuff Gault, whom he first met at church while they were still in elementary school. Together, they raised two children, George "Andrew" Gault (Ana) and Sarah Leslie Gault Williamson (Ryan). He cherished his role as a grandfather to Matthew, Joshua, Michael, Sydney, Jack, and Evy, and although they lived far away, he eagerly anticipated their visits, especially during the holidays. His beloved dog, Katie, was a constant companion by his side.
David's professional career spanned several decades and took him to various nuclear and engineering plants across the United States, including Missouri, South Carolina, and South Texas, where he served as a Quality Manager.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, David was passionate about many things. He enjoyed reading, traveling, playing men's softball, and watching University of Tennessee Volunteers sports. He was also a former member of "The Joy Singers," an a cappella singing group, and a devoted member of the East Brainerd Church of Christ.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Tabor and Lois Gault. He is survived by his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his sister, Frances "Fran" Jo Gault Roland (Paul), and many other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
In accordance with his wishes, David will be cremated, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor his life in his beloved
Panama City Beach, Florida.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization close to David's heart.
David will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his kindness to all who knew him. His legacy of faith, family, and friendship will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
