Alberta Jean Maxey, a devoted mother, grandmother and family matriarch, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 6, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee to Emily and James Key, Alberta was known for her warmth, generosity, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. She showed love through simple acts-especially baking, cooking, and caring for others.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Maxey; her daughter Debbie Maxey Simon (Don); her son, David Maxey; her sister Irene Stout; and her brother Sonny Jenkins. She is survived by her daughters Linda Maxey and Teresa Hennen, her son Michael Maxey (Sarah), 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice of Chattanooga.
