David Matthew Gaunce, 58, of Jefferson City, passed away on October 20, 2024. Born on September 21, 1966, in Dover, Delaware, he was the beloved son of Donald and Alma Jane (Weekley) Gaunce and a proud graduate of Dover High School.
David served his country honorably in the United States Navy for 12 years, specializing in submarine operations and achieving the rank of E-6. His dedication to his country was matched only by his commitment to those around him. As the supply officer aboard his submarine, he ensured that his crew was always well-equipped and supported.
Known for his infectious laughter, David had a unique ability to brighten any room. Friends and family will remember him for his warmth, humor, and the joy he brought to their lives.
A lover of Christmas, David was affectionately known as "Mr. Christmas." He took great delight in helping his neighbors with their holiday decorations, spreading joy and warmth throughout the community. His generous spirit made the festive season even more special for everyone around him.
David is survived by his brothers, Daniel Gaunce (Dee) and Joe Calogero; his sisters, Dianna McBeth and Dawn Miller; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the American Cancer Society in his memory.
Rest in peace, David. Your legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
