David L. Gerhart

David Lyman Gerhart (Froggy), 89, of Robesonia passed away in the Wyomissing Health and Rehab Center on December 8th, 2024 after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Jeanne (Harding) Gerhart with whom he was married to for 67 years. Born in Reading on September 7th, 1935, he was the son of the late Lyman and Verna (Brigel) Gerhart. He was a graduate of Robesonia High School (1953) and attended Penn State University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959.
David enjoyed working and had numerous jobs, Weiss Market, a Pepperidge Farm route, delivering the Reading Eagle and driving bus, which he loved. He drove for the Conrad Weiser School District, Bieber Bus and also, the Hershey Trolly. He retired from the Conrad Weiser School District.
Daved loved sitting on the porch, taking long drives, going to the American Music Theater, Hershey Park and vacationing in Stone Harbor, trips to Las Vegas and playing golf in his younger years. He loved playing cards with his family and friends, doing word search puzzles, watching game shows and sports, especially football.
David loved his home town (Robesonia). He was an active member of the Robesonia Jaycees, and in his younger years was a volunteer Fire Fighter.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by two daughters Diana, wife of Barry Jacobs and Sharon Gerhart, also surviving are two grandchildren, Michelle Jacobs and Joshua Putt, and siblings Patsy Bright and Sandra Prutzman. And nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Andrea Putt and a sister Mary Ann Morrella.
A private interment service will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of David.
